Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

Pelvic floor rehabilitation is a term that describes an approach to improving the strength and function of the muscles that support your bladder, urethra and other organs within the pelvis.

Apex Physical Therapy has a pelvic floor expert located at our Cheney location specializing in private one-on-one Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation.

What is Pelvic Floor Dysfunction?

Pelvic Floor Dysfunction (PFD) is classified as a problem with the muscles at the base of the pelvis.  The deepest, largest group of the pelvic muscles are called the levator ani which is a broad muscle group situated on either side of the pelvis, stretching from the pubic bone to the tail bone creating the “floor” of the pelvis. Having problems which arise from the pelvic floor are common in both men and women but the reason is often missed both by the person experiencing the symptoms as well as their medical provider.
